WarriorsFest Announced for June 28th as Final Home Match of 2024 for Utah Warriors Rugby

20,000 Utahns will be celebrating Utah’s community and kids alongside the Utah Warriors at their final home match of the MLR season, which will include post-game fireworks as well as pregame and halftime entertainment, for the benefit of Primary Children’s Hospital.

SANDY, Utah (April 5, 2024) – Today, the Utah Warriors, Utah’s Major League Rugby team, announced the first festival dedicated to the strength and courage of Utah’s kids being hosted at America First Field in Sandy, Utah, dubbed WarriorsFest.

The game itself will be sponsored by CCBank, Utah’s community-focused bank, with other programming for the day being sponsored by Intermountain Health.

“Rugby is exploding in Utah and we want to dedicate this evening to the strength and spirit of the Utah community, particularly our rising generation,” says Kimball Kjar, Co-Founder and CEO of the Utah Warriors. “Utahns are some of the toughest people in the United States. We’re honored that the community has embraced the Warriors and rugby wholeheartedly.”

Rugby’s rise in the United States is gathering momentum with the growth of Major League Rugby (MLR) now in its 7th season.

The Utah Warriors are a founding member of the MLR and are considered one of the premier clubs in the nation for the strength of the fanbase and their strategic development of local athletes, especially as the nation looks to host the Rugby World Cup in 2031.

In celebration of youth rugby, the Utah Warriors are inviting one thousand young athletes from Utah Little Rugby, the little league rugby of Utah, to lead the stadium in the Warrior Chant to kick off the match on the night of WarriorsFest. Joining them on the field will be child patients of Intermountain Health.

“The Warrior chant leads out with the phrase ‘I know who and what I am’. Every youth in Utah needs that confidence in themselves and their own strength, in particular the kids who are fighting hard battles in their lives already,” says Andy Chesnut, Commercial Manager of the Utah Warriors. “This is about bringing people together for our youth. That’s what Utah does. That’s what makes this community special.”

Gates will open to the public at 6PM as the plaza will be filled with music, food, games, and entertainment for the kids. The concourse will be lined with stations from local businesses in the Utah community in celebration of the future builders of Utah. Future announcements of WarriorsFest special guests, additional entertainment and event programming will be released in the coming weeks.

Business Packages for premium seating can be purchased through the Utah Warriors at warriorsrugby.com.

The night’s match against RFCLA kicks off at 8:30 PM and is expected to go roughly 2 hours. The match will be aired nationally on FS2. Tickets are on sale now.

"I was able to bring my family to three games. It was a lot of fun for all the kids, my wife, and myself. The atmosphere is very family-friendly for even my youngest kids. I had 4 children attend the pregame Jr. Warriors clinics on 2 separate occasions; they had a lot of fun with those experiences and it was a very positive and encouraging environment."
